I tend either 6w7 or 7w6, but I'm still figuring out enneagram. I see too many schools of thought, but I kind of want to find the ultimate way to organize the ideas.
I had to do this for Jungian typology too, but I seem to be reasonably satisfied now (might change mind on that).
I'm not going with the modern sources though, like I'd just be a 5 in them, due to intellectualism.
One thing often stated about Type 6 is they may wander about with a certain lack of inner faith, inner certitude. To some extent I think that has something to do with why I choose an extraverted orientation for myself. I personally find a lot of Type 5s are more like stuck in their own perspective, although they don't experience a certainty of say a E1, because they feel separate and alienated, so really their being stuck in their perspective is more contributing to paralysis than certitutde.
E6s are very preoccupied with certainty, so one way the Ne---Si tension can manifest here is that Si represents the perspective that one's perception and sense of reality truly is one's own subjective experience -- the sort of self-manifest "I experience it, consciously, thus I cannot possibly deny it" sort of thing...but, at the same time, if feeling unjustified and unsettled in one's views, it's possible to seek abstractions, and to escape the feeling of being limited to one's personal experience.
While we're at it, I see E9 as about the gut triad's theme of will, where for E9 the general attitude is of sloth -- why should I need to exact my will on the world? There's truth to the perspective because to some extent, every ego enters the world with the feeling of being stubbornly self-satisfied and justified in having one's needs satisfied. E1 looks to feeling justified, E8 focuses on dualities and the need to apply force, but E9 simply is inertial.
But because all 4 different enneagrams seem to have same points (32), the number 9 is true, so in a way this result is true but at the same time it isn't, lol.
I still waffle on the 6-7 issue for me though. I think I see some great examples of 7 to 1 disintegration in me. A 7 doesn't have the kind of need to see an inner self-worth and goodness and perfection a 1 often does, but when frustrated, they can descend that way.
I definitely seem to have either a 6 with strong 7 wing or the other way around, but in some ways I think a 7 with strong 6 wing and occasional 8 wing might fit me best.

I think in some ways, the differences between the RHETI 7 and other, older versions, parallel differences between dimensional MBTI ENP and other versions of Ne.
The so-called carefree fun-loving stimulation-seeker that is free-spirited and adventurous couldn't be more ENP.
However, the type of enneatype 7 I associate with is better described by Ichazo's "ego-planning." It's less carefree and necessarily optimistic, but is driven by the same kind of fear of denial or scarcity. The difference being that the optimistic versions of 7 retain the fear of scarcity, denial, etc as a more unconscious fear, whereas other versions allow for it as a more direct, conscious fear.

Type 9, as expected, with the usual 4 rising high.
But what is different, this time around?
Never before has 7 been so high, and indeed, equal now with 4.

Hmm, so I am now sx dom. Makes sense to me given growth of the last couple of years, and life experience in the last 10.
And that likely contributes to the rise of the 7.
