Elon Musk (our president), and Vivek Ramaswamy (our vice president), 🥳 among other billionaires/Wall Street guys, are now pushing the expansion of H1B visas, to import more foreigners to work in the US in high paying fields, while they insist it’s not worth it to invest in American workers instead. This comes after Trump ran on “America First” during the presidential campaign, essentially promising to rein in immigration they alleged was damaging/impeding and taking high paying jobs from American workers.

Because it was never America First. It was American corporations and Wall Street first, American workers last.

Billionaires and Wall Street want cheaper labor, and used the America First slogan to con gullible, delusional voters into voting against their own interests, and to further the interests of Wall Street and Corporations.

I agree here. Incredibly stupid post from Vivek and Elon. A political suicide. I hope they receive even more backlash and they rethink their opinions.

The cultural inheritance of the West is not the same as in India or China. Our inheritance is that of a Homeric hero, not a bureaucrat or an engineer or a programmer. We do not and should not care about rote memorization, spelling bee competitions or math Olympiads for kids.

I am starting to think these guys don't really grasp the problem. They want to reduce deficits and they talk about AI - well we will see your deficits when millions of Americans are unemployed because of immigration and AI. They need to think much, much deeper about this. I am sick of this talk about "pursuit of technical excellence" when we have (or will have) literal AGI agents to do that work for us much better, faster, stronger than humans.

Trump didn't win the election based on his promises to "100x engineers that want to work 100 hours a week". These tech-bros should go take a sit on the bench, their stupidity is showing.
