So essentially our voting system is set up to protect the status quo? Because it's a plurality voting system? Not to mention the wealthy elite backing two parties... I think our system is broken. o.o

But why isn't that so? Is it years of conditioning that made us as a nation focus on only two parties (also campaign financing from corps/banks) as a viable choice? And why only one candidate from each party? What if we had 3 major candidates per party, and at least 4 major parties? That's 12 people to choose as president alone; I'm positive there are people who didn't want Mitt to be the Republican candidate, much as Obama should have more opposition in the Democrat party. But I am being too idyllic, and people would complain that it's "too complicated."

That's true. I just wish there were more candidates to choose from. :/
