No need to apologize for the long message. I can appreciate your words. I'm surprised you think atheists are against gay marriage. The ones I know would never deny anyone the rights as others. You'll never get the government out of civil unions - unless they change up the entire tax structure code. And we both know that aint' gonna happen in My lifetime... Hopefully yours - though. It's not the same as Slavery. It's about Rights...Equal Rights.. That is what we fought for in the '60's. I'm not trying to change the churches at all! Nope. Nada. This has always been about the same rights as anyone else. Which is why it makes sense to change the wording. Then the churches can keep to their values and traditions. It's a pleasure to hear your views Saru.

It's very fascinating how the federal government has basically divided our country into two parties. The founding fathers didn't want the federal government to be so involved with our everyday life. They wanted state and local government to have more significance. It's fascinating because a lot of Federal policies have actually damaged the free market and as a solution people want higher federal involvement. The whole thing is very grey... I don't know what to believe. The Keynesian's or the ones who believe in laissez-faire. I don't like how we are forced to choose 1) be culturally conservative and believe in small government or 2) be culturally liberal and believe in big government. It is a great way to divide people and keep control of them. I personally tend to be culturally liberal with small government, no party for that.
