So the content is really dry, but CCNA = Cisco Certified Network Associate. Most corporations and larger sized businesses use Cisco hardware for their networks. CCNA focuses on technical configuration, planning, and scaling of hardware based on specific location requirements. There is a lot that goes into configuraton if you want a solution that is redundant, efficient, scalable, etc. Redundancy is HUGE in IT. I am sure you deal with redundancy a lot in Engineering as well.
There is the CCNA, then the CCNP, then the CCIE. CCNP deals with some BGP routing which is what the internet is primarily uses. CCIE does a ton of BGP and is rather hard to obtain but it pretty much guarantees a great income. You really have to have a lot of experience to get that certification though.
