US > Iran conflict begins

My sense is this:

The United States cannot afford to continue bombing. Not to any end which results in regime change.

The lockdown and control of the Strait of Hormuz will not be allowed to stand. Not because of the oil, though there is that. The concern is the disruption of markets such that the petrodollar is rendered null and void—a calamity for the United States.

So, boots on the ground. A nation surrounded by mountains. Many will be lost, but the administration will only offer lip service, and no fucks whatsoever.

The talk floated today about reinstitution of the draft, but no need to register, because the conscripts will be drawn from the DOGE-sourced Palantir records. They already know who is good to go. Outside of ~74% being deemed unfit due to obesity.

What a Mess,
Ian

We just had a regime change in Syria. The Syrian Ba'athist Party was dissolved. It may be too early to tell how good/bad that is, but most people think tossing Assad for change to be positive. Regime change can come from different directions. Be careful who takes their place.

Freedom and change aren't free. The people may still rise. Sooner or later, most of the people will understand. This has been needed for a long time. I hope the world can make good lemonade out of so many lemons. Maybe they are coming to help control the nuclear material until something can be decided. Lot of possible energy there to be wasted on nukes.

Iran has been preparing for this for a while. This is a suicide mission to US forces.

Meanwhile:

If China does this, the US will be stretched thin, fast. No ordinary American will benefit from this. Only the rich will.

The United States has had accumulating issues be unresolved since its birth. American society is a poisoned womb that develops vampires who destroy Earth's ecosystem for profit. They let criminals get away scot-free when have enough money. Since American society has been successfully herded with bread and circus as distraction without an adequate education system that promotes accountability, they're zombified consumers more or less. George Carlin made fun of Americans for decades when he was alive. But that wasn't enough to make most of them grow a spine against corruption. Now, the United States is barely holding on. Can't say I blame people for leaving the United States permanently to dodge a bullet that keeps getting bigger if they can afford it.

Iran just released a powerful vengeance for all video.

There are two views to this war: those who think the US-Israel are acting like saviours; and those who see the US-Israel elite as the biggest evil of the world today, an evil that ordinary, consumerism-zombified US citizens have to overcome.

This narrative is dangerous because it oversimplifies the complex realities of the broader world. It paints equally cruel regimes as heroes when what they are to me is simply the rise of a new empire. A new master, so to speak. Nonetheless, the sentiment for vengeance is strong because the narrative for supremacy has long brewed the hurt of the oppressed into anger.

If people rise and awaken pushing back against the elite ---against what they are not, then perhaps the world might have hope such that the rise of new powers might never congeal as new cruel masters.

It is crucial for every one of us to see the crumbling and rebuilding of the world order with sober eyes.

It's disgusting. Taking huabands and fathers away from their families... to go fight in a war they want no part of! It's like something alien and evil from a nightmare.

If the war goes on for long as some are talking never mind a full scale invasion there could be a draft.
Yeah, disgusting. I cannot with these "elites" anymore. There are so many more of us than them and it seems like if absolutely everyone stood their ground we could all just say NO.

If we strip down these words whether it is a precise "military operation" or "invasion", it still means boots on the ground. Dead bodies. And you're right, to replenish dead bodies, a draft will be necessary.

People think a nuclear war will be the end of us without realizing that a profoundly disrupted Middle East has the same effects, it's just a slower, more agonizing death.

I think it is a sad state of affairs even if the person is not a husband or father, or has no family.

Cheers,
Ian

Won't be a draft. Would need an act of Congress so I understand, and the infrastructure would take years to re-establish. Plus, it just seems politically outlandish (even in the context of a situation that's starting to sound like something from a Tom Clancy novel).

He theoretically needed congress to declare war, but somehow calling it a "military operation" makes it fly under that radar. The creativity of this government is not to be underestimated.

IF we strip off all the nice fuzzy language, everything that the US and Israel are doing squarely falls as an invasion. It's colonialism all over again. In the case of Israel on Gaza, it is specifically settler colonialism.

Yeah some are expecting there to be a nuke or two to be used before this is over, even the usual war hawks are pissed over how this has been handled thus far.

Agreed! I think that's just the first imagery that popped in my mind. It is sad indeed, single, married, monk, whatever the case may be. And not only sad but infuriating.

War is a horrific thing, that is beyond dispute.

Is it possible I’m the only one noticing that those who provide fossil fuels to China have shut down?
In April, Trump is going to talk to the Chinese, saying: 'Now, how are you going to run your factories without fossil fuels?'

ooooooops

You underestimate China's readiness for renewable energies. They have thought this through.
