Lust vs. Love: What's the diff?

Well it seems to be easy --- we love family (like best friends, mom, dad, sister, brother), and true love tends to involve very similar things in addition to the passionate stuff. Lust is more like candy-cravings.

Human beings are animals, albiet more capable animals. Lust is as much a driver for humans as it is for a dog.

Our education and empathy would get us nowhere without lust (the drive that compels all animals to reproduce).

Might I ask if you hump the legs of people you like?

Spiritually-minded? When lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin. When sin is finished, it bringeth forth death.

1 Corinthians 13King James Version (KJV)
13 Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.

2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

8 Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.

9 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part.

10 But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

*Charity is used as love.

I know this will not get a lot of likes, but I couldn't have said it better myself.

YOU DON'T KNOW ME!

You sure about that? Is everything you post a total facade OR are those 11,000 post not a bit of an insight to who you actually are as a person?

We know you better than you think. This is a group of empaths and intuitive's. You can hide in the shadows for a few messages but not 11,000!!! You have been assimilated. I'm just a spec on the radar with my little 500 posts but you on the other hand occupy the entire map like a giant morning coffee stain.

Lust is physical. Love is different to different people.

I wrote an INFJs.com blog entry on love languages. Take a look, it has helped me in all of my relationships. Here's a LINK.

My theory on lust vs. love:
There are three different levels to romantic relationships:
1. The lowest level is lustful love which is completely sexual. It is related to the physical self and it can not full fill the emotional or spiritual self. This kind of relationship is short lived and it is seen im porn, prostitution and one night stands.
2. The second level of love is emotional love which is related to the heart. It may also be physical but it still has a very strong element of emotional attachment to it. If you loose this kind of love you may feel as if your heart is broken. It is the kind of love that teens and immature people go for.
3. The third level of love is ultruistic love which is related to the mind. It is the kind of relationship where both partners will consciously and mindfully choose to love one annother. In this relationship there may be some conflict but once the conflict is resolved the couple will now have a more deep relationship than before. Couples who stay commited to each other till the day they die experience this level of love.
Thats my take on it.

Love is selfless. Love continues beyond all betrayals. Love is agape. Love wants the best for the other. Love is a decision. Love is a choice. Love is not sexual attraction or lust, it is pure in all ways. Love is what I felt for my husband of 20 years who passed last year from cancer. Forever.....always......unconditional......

Love is accepting, caring, gentle, warm, passionate and lasting.

It is when you are with someone who you can be completely yourself and it is the most freeing thing ever knowing that they love you for who you simply are. Love is knowing there will be flaws that you are bound to dislike of your partner, but you choose to accept them because their flaws are also a part of them; thus you choose to love their flaws over time too. Love is simply wonderful.

Lust is simply a brief and shallow phase that will bound to run it’s course. You have no deep connection to that person and don’t seek anything beyond physical intimacy. It’s an empty identification of love.

I'll be fine, I have to put the effort into really getting to know someone and once I do, I think I'll end up with someone special.

I believe you will bud.

I believe in the idea of soulmates and that there is someone out there for everyone. I wouldn’t try and force it though just focus on yourself and when it is meant to happen it will happen

Yeah, that's an important thing to remind ourselves not to do.
