Mapping Big 5 Onto MBTI/Jungian Dynamics (And Oddities)

Just wondering if people who know both their MBTI/Jungian type and their Big 5 have anything in the Big 5 that is odd for their MBTI/Jungian type.

I have some oddities.

I am high in openness, which is congruent with INFJ.
I am high in agreeableness, which is congruent with INFJ.
I am low in conscientiousness, which is NOT congruent with INFJ.
I am average in Extroversion, which is semi-congruent with INFJ or can be.
Neuroticism isn't really calculated in MBTI/Jungian types, except when Cognitive Functions are exaggerated and termed a "diagnosis."

Specifically, I am low in orderliness AND industriousness. That typically shows low J characteristics. But, I am relatively confident that I lead with Ni (even more than my Fe even though I am super high in BOTH compassion AND Politeness, but this is a characteristic that I had abandoned for parts of my life and returned to after THE experience. I digress. Also, and I think this is the most interesting thing, is that I am pretty high in assertiveness, which corresponds to Extroversion, but I have average to low Enthusiasm, which is the other part of Extroversion.

And, interestingly enough, I have taken Jordan Peterson's Big 5 test twice. Once before, my faith was confirmed through a miraculous experience, and once after. Totally different results, which is evidence of how the experience changed me.

Here is a link to Jordan Peterson's test if you want to take it. I believe it costs $10, but it is very valid as far as results go.

When the event first happened, it was almost impossible to talk about. But at the same time, I knew I had to tell people. As time went on, it became easier to tell people about it. Now, I will openly talk about it with no emotional whiplash, and I can give very long or very short versions of the same story. Soon after it happened, I actually thought it could have been an encounter with the greater personality, if you are familiar with that at all. Now, I really have no way to categorize it. I just know what I experienced and it changed my life... forever. You will not find many conversion...

Thank you for sharing. My only reservation about some of these free tests is that they are often either not rigorous enough scientifically, or they try to measure too much (like this one you have here).

I was expecting my agreeableness score to be lower, since I tried to answer honestly. That was a bit of a surprise.

While the "J" (Judging) preference in MBTI officially maps to Conscientiousness, extensive trait-mapping data shows that INFJs score lower in this category than other "Judging" types like INTJs, ISTJs, or ESTJs.

While the "J" preference aligns with Conscientiousness, INFJs regularly score lower here than other "Judging" types. The 55th–65th percentile range perfectly captures their unique psychological friction.

The Disconnect in the Facet Scores

The reason the actual score sits at a moderate ~60% instead of a very high 80%+ comes down to how the specific sub-traits (facets) of Conscientiousness clash with INFJ psychology:

High Scores in Planning and Cautiousness (~75% - 90%): INFJs score very high on the deliberate, forward-thinking, and structural sub-traits. They dislike impulsivity and prefer having a clear vision for the future.

Low to Average Scores in Orderliness and Duty (~40% - 50%): Because INFJs are dominant intuitive types (Ni), they care deeply about abstract ideas and the "big picture" rather than physical tidiness or rigid routine. FWIW, when I first came to the conclusion that I was INFJ it was through watching a series of videos to narrow down my type. There is this guy who really helped me a lot. THE video that it kinda clicked for me was like 4 minutes into the video and I was like, "I'm not INFP???" Anyways, complete "Aha!" moment.

I would be skeptical of what it says if it didn't make sense to me, but it makes perfect sense, when you think about how an INFJ operates. I have actually looked into this before, the idea of "which J type is the most J" - INFJ definitely does not top the list.

I don't just blindly accept data that is handed to me. I accept it if the reasoning behind it is sound and valid.

If someone said 20% with lackluster reasoning to back it up, I would easily dismiss it. I dismiss and challenge information I come across every day, regardless of the source.

Sure. I'm not questioning you; I just wasn't there for the conversation. So, seeing snippets of a conversation is usually not enough for me to get totally on board with the conclusion. That said, I didn't say I disagree with the conclusion. Just that I was skeptical of the data because I don't have access to the full conversation. I talk to my brother a lot, and he has a very bad habit of leaving out essential details when asking me for advice. As such, I have adapted because of this (and many other engagements, such as online and elsewhere), that unless I actually know the full context, I know people, knowingly or not, share only the details they think are relevant and not the whole picture.

Also, as you can see from the video, part of the thing that convinced me I am not INFP is that it wasn't really in my awareness that an INFJ could be low in conscientiousness. This video helped me see that there are plenty of INFJs who are not strong in judging. So, even though I was skeptical of your source, I wasn't necessarily skeptical of the conclusion. I am just kinda obsessed with the methodology of coming to conclusions. Basically, I have seen people be wrong a lot. I find myself trying to dot my i's and cross my t's a lot in communication, so people can understand what I am saying. This is partly because, lol, INFJs typically are just not understood at all. So, I have overcompensated to try and be extra clear in communication. It's so bad that it annoys people. My dad, even though he hasn't said it, I know he doesn't like it when I do this because he probably thinks I think he is stupid. But, it's much more of a "me" thing because I have not been understood for a lot of my life. (FYI, I saw a video that said INFPs are MISunderstood and INFJs are NOT understood.)

No worries at all, I appreciate you being thorough and skeptical. That's a mindset I always respect.

For me, it's not only about the external source, but also about running the information through my internal framework to judge its validity. I try not to share anything if it doesn't seem correct to me. If it can't pass those checks, I toss it out.

I'm not confident enough in myself though, so I like to check multiple sources. If I see 98% of the sources supporting the same conclusion, it helps boost my confidence.

Most people will just look at that word and think yeah that's what they mean - Being agreeable
But the metric itself measures very specific things
Trust, Cooperation, Modesty, Sympathy etc.

Same for all the others
Neuroticism doesn't mean "being neurotic" specifically
It's Impulsiveness, Vulnerability, Self-Consciousness etc.

Basically it's a cluster of things they've somewhat arbitrarily labeled.
The labels are somewhat helpful/accurate but not entirely.
Somewhat misleading and depending on what you're scoring high or low on, the label can be kinda useless/wrong.
