Random Religious Thoughts

self love is not selfish but for some reason you think it is?

Define "self love." We might have different definitions of this

God wants people to not have depression, not hate themselves, not feel bad, because he loves us.

Why do you think I disagree with this?

Please answer my prior questions as well as these, if you will.

You just agreed with me that God wants you to not have depression, not hate yourself, not feel bad. That is self love.

The rest of the questions have to do with where this comes from which you told me was the enlightenment and I said the enlightenment came from Christian values. So in the cultural sense what I am saying is true but you said that you know where my views come from?

That's not the way you described it because you DISAGREED with me when I said:

Christianity does not have this kind of extreme individualism that it is all about you and your "true self." This kind of thought is due to liberalism, not orthodox Christianity. Its roots are in the rise of the Enlightenment and the French Revolution. In a sense, it is making yourself a little g god.

Not wanting to be depressed is a very low bar, and virtually no one would be saying that we should be depressed. The issue is that, as you describe, it is not essentially about service.

You also say,

Not that sin is not bad, it is just that being who you are is not always bad just because of differences in thought, personality or individuality.

To which I respond,

Real Christianity is about using your gifts to serve others, not a lesson on how you can "love yourself" to the Nth degree.

Which you INTERPRETED as,

It is good to have dignity it is good to have human rights it is good to not live in fear of authoritarian rule.

Somehow you view those things as negative. So what kind of system would you prefer, the opposite?

So, then I asked you,

I view those things as negative? Show me where I inferred that.

And you never answered that.

You are hyper focused on self serving stuff.

Why cannot it be that some people are just ok people.

The low bar is where I start because it seem to me you have this extreme asceticism going on which you call everyone selfish who is not?

To me ok people exist and they are ok with themselves and ok helping or being around others.

You infer all the above (because you cannot view things other than in extremes i.e. people are all selfless or all self serving, tell me if I am wrong?)

It is a trap. Of logic. You don't want to face the logic of the situation. You just want to keep avoiding the questions I am asking you.

Run away, little boy. You argue dishonestly.

no, you are the dishounest one.

If I say jesus then you will say that make everyone worse in comparison.

But if this is true then jesus should love no one.

The truth is he does love us because good things are inside us but you cannot accept it because you cannot accept any goodness in anyone but him.

You are an extremist that cannot believe good has a place in people.

Not an answer to my question.

This is why I say you are not interested in fair debate. You run away from a fair argument.

I have literally answered all your questions, and you have answered none of mine. You are a hypocrite.

That is a lie.

You want to know the answer then the answer to the question: "Who is our greatest example in Christianity?" is Jesus Christ.

Now you will do most stuff just to hurt me.

One of the big reasons why I dropped out.
