Saddest songs you've ever heard.

The version at the end of the film is better.

I'm sure we can all relate to this one.

I watched 'The Thin Red Line' when I was really depressed, with an action movie loving friend. He had rented it, as he thought it would be a run of the mill war movie, the movie is extremely sad. My friend (who just prior to watching got in a fight with his girlfriend) and I drank vodka as we watched and had a dark psychologically damaging night.

Just about everything by Hole

Mad World, by Gary Jules. Best know from the film: Donnie Darko.

Not sure if this counts, because on one hand he's sad that his goat just died, but he's also happy because he didn't suffer too much.

This was played at my father's funeral:

This video is sad to me because both people loved each other, but one of them was never able to get over what happened to them as a youth, and kept pushing the other person away.

This video I can relate to, because Kimbra really cared about him, and although he was immature and treated her poorly, he wants to maintain the friendship- even when it is too hurtful for her. I also love the artistic "shattering" of the ego that is taking place as the cracks begin to appear in the form of art.

I've posted this somewhere else, I can barely watch it. I find it extremely painful, extremely sad.

Not a terribly sad sounding song; has a modern rockish type of vibe...I guess it just hurts because I can relate.

Good song. Gotye also has other songs on his new album that I would consider to be more sad than Somebody That I Used to Know. The last track, Bronte, is very sad. Plus, the music video is animated and stuff.

Dude I love Cold! Isn't that a newer song by them? This reminds me of Gone Away, which I think is really sad as well.
