That's What Racism Isn't

For me, the 'preference' is a culture thing, NOT a physical thing. Let me make that clear. Even if it were a physical thing, what's wrong with that?

My parents never taught us about race. The first black person I saw was my bff in second grade-skin color never occurred to me then either. We moved, my new school had all white kids . . . still never occurred to me. My older sister,years later, marries a black guy. Still no blip on the radar. Then he started feeling me up. Later found out he did the same thing to my little sister. I moved out, moved away . . . and ever since, every black guy I've ever worked with has hit on me in a sexual manner. I don't know if it's cultural or what it is, but I begin to think about race now when I see a black guy, and associate black men with guys who like to grab a woman's ass and fondle her breasts, smell her hair . . .

Does that make me racist? Black guys make me physically uncomfortable and I would never date one. I don't feel racist, which is why I explained the above.

Any thoughts?

Btw, my boyfriend is vietnamese. He feels me up with my permission. ;-)

Ketsugi, I'm tired of cretinous individuals who believe they're even qualified to have conversations like these, when everything that falls out of their mouths is plain-dumb, callous and thoughtless. The fact that you don't know why I'm responding the way I am, makes you ignorant. I don't feel it's my job as one of the few black people on this forum to educate you. First of all sedna, I don't give a rat's bum fur what race or culture you come from. Whatever it may be however, I am sure it does not disdain showing others a modicum of respect.

If you feel you are in a position of superior knowledge than those you have been conversating with you should be able to eloquently and adequately explain why you are correct in your assumptions.

I'm giving back in tone exactly what I read here. Becasue it's CLEAR to me that dense people have a hard time understanding otherwise.

It's funny. I'm just ONE person, but I'm glad that I got under your skin enough for you to understand the texture of the asinine responses that preceded yours, that my eyes had to endure. But instead of you being focussed on that, you choose to single me out. You know what, go crawl back under your fucking rock and leave me the hell alone. Wow! It's clear that I picked the wrong time to post my thoughts!! lol. Alcyone, as always, I respect your aptly stated opinions and sharp tact.

As for Sedna, My whole point is, is it racism if, over a span of three years, the only people who have ever touched you inappropriately (definition being unasked for and unwanted ass-groping, breast fondling, and hair grabbing) have been six black men? Is my discomfort from racism or sexual harrassment? And some of the times I told a superior, and some of the times I didn't . . . This has NEVER been done to me by ANYONE else.

Actually you are indeed not giving back, in tone, what you are getting. You are giving out vituperation, judgement, and ignorance.

You are being clear in only that you want to have an antagonistic attitude in the conversation, insulting people by calling them names, and then expecting them to show you some sort of sympathy for your experiences....As well as expecting people to just switch over to your side without giving them the knowledge you claim to harbor.

I singled you out because you weren't contributing to a discussion, you were de-escalating it into a flame war.

If you didn't want to be singled out, you wouldn't have posted the content you did, in the manner you did. You are getting the attention you want. Why are you telling me to go back under my rock? Or is it just because you actually don't have anything cogent and articulate to say to back up your suppositions?
