[PAX] The Impeachment of Donald J. Trump

If Trump is impeached, the next person in line... Pence?

Is that better?

I almost think that's worse. And by almost, I mean really.

If impeachment meant anyone involved with Trump - maybe. But instead, we would get the shitshow that is Pence.

These are our leaders, in line for succession.

'Murica.
Wouldn't we get Gorbachev's zombie?

So, according to the NYT the special counsel's team verbalized a bunch of questions they intend to ask Trump to the Trump defense team who wrote them down. Someone not on the defense team and not on the counsel's team then gave those questions to the NYT. Here are the Questions, paraphrased by the NYT https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/30/us/politics/robert-mueller-questions-trump.html

Most of them have to do with the allegations of Obstruction of Justice, that charge, according to my understanding, is difficult to prove because it requires proving the motivation or intention of the obstructionist. There are only a few question aimed at the charge of collusion.

It may well be that the charge of collusion or collaboration by the Trump campaign with the Russian Intelligence agencies is easier to prove and that is why there are less questions about it.

I was wondering why the hell special counsel would leak this since they've been airtight with everything else. Didn't seem like Mueller's style to leak. And it doesn't seem to serve them well either. Did the Trump team leak it to try and get ahead of the questions so his base can whine about how unfair all the questions are? So the FOX pundits can start building his defense for his base? Maybe for Trump to see how dangerous talking to Mueller would be? I just want them to finish this investigation unhampered.

No one was “spying”...they were doing their jobs and investigating Russian ties to the campaign - which 4 people have already pled guilty to for various uncouth associations and many more are under subpoena in regards to.
It was a “confidential informant”, not a spy sent in to pretend to be on their side or sabotage anything.
I know the right likes to make this into a politically motivated “spying” by Obama, but that just isn’t true.
There is no “spy”.
It was someone already on the campaign talking to the FBI in regards to Russian interference - which we know was happening and STILL is (it’s their job to investigate such things for our national security and a confidential informant is the least they could do, non intrusive and not spying on the campaign for political reasons - if it was political then why didn't they disclose they were being investigated back when they first began and screw up the Trump campaign?)
And now asking for the “confidential informant” (along with documents into the investigation ((sources and methods)) to be revealed while an investigation is still going on is highly irregular and undermines the whole idea of “confidential informant” - why would anyone ever be one in the future if they don’t keep their confidence - at least until the investigation is complete?
Those being investigated don’t normally get to see the evidence against them...yet so far, the DOJ has let Trump see quite a bit, abnormally so.
Devin Nunes also immediately leaks confidential information to the WH when he gets his hands on it which is also highly irregular and goes against the norm.
He was part of the Trump campaign after all...being a member of Congress does not mean he can hand over secret confidential documents to those who are being investigated, POTUS or not - that is technically illegal.

Thank you @Skarekrow . From what I've read...there's more to follow. For now, we don't know anything for certain...what we do know is that there's a lot of delusion, illusion, collusion and sneaky leaks taking place. Let's see how this unfolds.....hoping the truth surfaces from all this palaver. :openmouth:

Just watched this video. I've not heard of The Daily Ledger before but I do respect the work of Judicial Watch (love their motto - "Because no one is above the law." Chris Farrell (Director of Investigation and Research) said, "informant, spy = source, it's all just semantics - "Distinction without a difference."

JW: Investigation vs. Spying into Trump a 'Distinction without a Difference'

Most interesting part of this interview (around 1:43) is the conversation around "political purposes and motives." Page and Strzok have been requested to preserve all their emails for further investigation after texts reveal, "POTUS (Obama) wants to know everything that we're doing."

Talk about political drama!! :flushed:

Harvey Weinstein has been arrested a couple days ago (about time) but yet the walking cheeto is still in office. It still astounds me that a portion of the country is still going for the guy especially after all the crap that comes out of the guy's mouth.

Unfortunately, I have little to practically no trust for the U.S. government or most politicians in general. It's all about sucking money dry from corporations, military, and the health industry.

BERNIE!

BERNIE COME BACK! *cries*

It isn’t a witch hunt if....

"In the nine months since Robert S. Mueller III was appointed to oversee the investigation into possible links between the Trump campaign and Russian officials, he has issued more than 100 criminal counts against 19 people and three companies. Of the 19 people, five — including three Trump associates — have pleaded guilty. Thirteen are Russians accused of meddling in the 2016 presidential election."

Here is an assessment of the charges and the people facing them in the special counsel investigation.

From what I understand, it is about the FBI's handling of its investigation of H Clinton's use of a private email server while she was the Secretary of State. It also takes a close look at the FBI's decision not to recommend prosecution of H Clinton for mishandling classified information, the decision by then FBI Director J Comey to publicly announce that decision, his public admonition of her mishandling classified information. It also delves into how the FBI handled the emergence of Clinton emails from that server on a laptop that came into the custody of the NYPD and subsequently the FBI during the investigation of one of Clinton's top aids husband. And then the Director of the FBI's decision to inform the Congress of the reopening of the investigation in the final days of the 2016 campaign.

Thanks for the summary @Stu. What a mess! Would be interested to know your thoughts about the firing of (I think...can't remember if it's 1 or 2) 2 FBI agents so far (Page and Strzok) and whether you think they were biased or not in their conduct? Think there are 3 other individuals who haven't been named (2 further FBI agents and 1 attorney) that are caught up in this mess. I've been thinking about the subject of bias in such situations and would like to try and join the dots (at least in my head). Thanks

Strzok was kicked out of Mueller's Russian investigation - not sure to what extent he was involved in this mess!
