Trump will win again

It's also concerning what a cult figure he's become for the GOP. Mitt Romney is the only one willing to stand up to him? It's going to be pretty wild to see what happens to that party once he's gone. How much more will congressional Republicans cede responsibility to please Trump in another 4 years? They don't act coequal.

I don't really see Trump as status quo. He's there to tear shit up. He's goona dismantle healthcare while offering no viable alternatives or replacement. He's alienating us from our allies and kissing dictator ass around the world... Trying to turn back the clock on women's reproductive rights. I see him as the more volatile choice. What could he fuck up in another 4 years? I'm not sure I want to find out. He's already reshaping the courts for a generation. Just don't think this is one to sit out.

I have already lost all faith in people making any correct decisions anyway due to him being elected in the first place lol
People deserve the bullshit they voted for. If he's elected again, I hope he does more damage.

I think I said forever ago I'd vote for a toaster if it won the nomination. I stand by that opinion today.
One day all your mayors will be cats, and your cabinet will be packed with kitchen appliances.

I am over accepting bullshit candidates, that's what landed us in the Hilary-Drumpf no win situation in the first place.
Yeah, I agree with this. Playing it safe with grey men and women isn't cutting it in this age of videocratic populism.

Trump will win because the economy and identity politics.

Right or wrong, the USA, UK and similar countries don't care about Identity Politics.

Doesn't matter your race, gender, sexual orientation, people just want someone who can do the job.

Failing that, they want someone who will do as little economic damage as possible.

Failing that, they want someone who tells them they are great and they will protect them from the outside evils.

Also the electoral college is a thing and will always be a thing.

Problem is when the US sneezes the whole world catches a cold.

Given the rise of Chinese and Russian style Authoritarianism across the world I prefer the US and their Freedom/Democracy drive.

No it's about the fact that he's the rat king
Voting for a corporate puppet rat is a vote for drumpf anyway. Two sides of the same coin.
Isn't Mayor Pete from down your neighborhood? If so, what is the general public missing ?

He seems fake af in the debate and I think that's why he jumped to the lead of the dnc pack ... telling citizens what they want to hear to get elected then serve us the proverbial brick upside the head.

I really liked him at first; thinking he would be a good spokesperson for the more modern non-traditional and alternate lifestyles.

I want to see his books. If he could turn a profit and clear some of the countries deficit I'd be persuaded to vote for him. Because the nation as a whole is under the poverty line.

I think, if he's not squashed, I be knowin who I'm sowen :p

@Wyote has it right, Clinton was a poor choice in 2016 as she had been around too long and had sustained incredible damage by the GOP with the Benghazi smear. Notice how the Trumpsters refuse to testify in congress? They know because they used congressional appearances to damage the dems for four years. (its fucked up). I supported Bernie in the primary race in 2016 mainly because I wanted real change...That is how Trump got elected...This country is not benefiting from the way national politics has been run for the last fifty years where the moneyed powers get their way over and over again. What Trump has done is simply pushed the big lie that he is shaking things up when all he is really doing (aside from embezzlement) is instilling the GOP agenda of deregulation, low tax rates for corporations and wealthy, shoring up the white supremacist infrastructure While installing racist and homophobic judges, um er i mean, Christian Value judges.

The question is, what is the next election really about... a referendum on Trump or a referendum on the status quo?

"sneezes"
Yeah right, from it's arse.

People underestimate the impact of the US on the stability of the modern world.

Has the US screwed up a few countries a few times, sure. Iran, certain Latin American nations, Afghanistan are not the best examples.

But compare the peace across the majority of the world since 1945 vs the constant European and Colonial Wars of the 17th, 18th and 19th Centuries.

This is purely down to the US as a Super Power, and their drive to encourage Democracies, especially post WW2 in Europe.

Admittely the Cold War played its part, but it was a Cold War of Democracy vs Communism, and US was the standard bearer for Democracy.

Because of the US for the better part of 100 years, the idea of how to be rich and successful in the world was - Democratic elections, a free capitalist economy and a free press that could report the truth.

Compare that to the pre-WW2 where the press and freedoms wererestrcited, and post WW2 Authoritarian regimes such as Russia and China.

If you are the wrong person in these countries, you disappear. The wrong ethnic group, the wrong religion, the wrong sexual orientation, you are targetted and removed.

The press is restricted (and in recent times, the Doctor that discovered the Corona Virus was silenced by the Chinese government, allowing to spread further... extremely stupid).

Despite all of its faults, the fact we live in a world as free as it is is down entirely to the US.

If the US falls, expect more regional wars, more violence, more refugees and the slow death of Democracy. New Tyrants will rise and the enlightment will be nothing but a memory.

Don't forget, in 1984 shows us a world of unrestricted Tyrants messing with history, believe me we do not want that.

It will be a vote between Capitalism or Socialism. And Trump's Capitalism will win.

Bernie is a great guy, I'd love to share a drink with the man, but his ideas aren't going to work.

You can't make all Health Insurance illegal and pretend thousands won't lose jobs. Even the best retraining program will leave people behind, its not practical, and the government is very bad at retraining programs.

Also giving benefits to illegal immigrants and free healthcare?

No, if Bernie wins the Democractic nomination Trump will wall it, because all he has to say is "The Dems want to give your tax money to illegal immigrants" and he wins. There is no support for that.

If anyone else wins, *maybe* they can fightTrump on Capitlaism, but if they go for Identity Politics or appear too weak in other areas they will still lose. Its very hard to unseat a sitting President, especially one that has just survived Impeachment.

trump's amerika

trump's amerika

Yes, yes, there are problems, but its the SCALE of the problems. The majority of Americans still believee in Freedom of Speech, Religion etc etc.

Trump is not dictator for life, he will be gone n 1-5 Years. Unlike Putin or Xi he does not present the future of the country, merely the present.

Things will change because the US is a Democractic country at heart and it will remain so.

In the scheme of things 4-8 years is not a long time. The effects of the current President will be less long lasting than, say, Brexit, which is a systematic change that changes Geopolitical Relationships for the next century or more.

One President can undo the effects of a previous one. Brexit is forever.

Oh boy... there's so much wrong with that I don't even know where to begin. It sounds like you're trying to pass a citizenship test, or something.

First of WELCOME to the list!

I am also relatively new and thought I would offer some input before this goes seriously out of control.

1. You make reasoned posts.
2. There is even logic involved.
3. You mean well.

Based on my PERSONAL experience this will not end well. Take some time and read a lot of the older posts. You might also want to look at the banned list and then run down what those who are banned posted. I realize even this is probably going to get me a warning for causing trouble (things are not what they seem).

Again, welcome to the list! Good luck!

Larry

(I was too late by 3 minutes - sorry).

Oh boy... there's so much wrong with that I don't even know where to begin. It sounds like you're trying to pass a citizenship test, or something.

*Sigh*

Go on then. I admit this is my personal opinion but you are welcome to tell me where you believe I have errored in my judgement.

I do believe whilst the US is NOT perfect, no nation is) it has done more good for the world ON THE WHOLE than bad.

No, he's from Indiana
