I always wondered what happened to the Panavision Genesis. It had a large sensor CCD(as opposed to the current CMOS chips used), with a gate similar to 3-perf Super35mm. I wonder if the Arri Alexa just blew everyone away so much, that the Genesis and the Thompson Viper didn't really stand a chance in the film industry's future?

That’s exactly what happened. The ARRI Alexa. And the surrounding ecosystem.

So perfectly targeted. ARRI understood the target market. Others made technical proofs of concept.
