Perception is a huge thing. People looked "older" a long time ago, partly because of health standards. But I love how much he goes into the differences in perception and culture changes. When you take photos of old people when they were young, and you photoshopped their clothing and hairstyles to someone of the same age today - they would look pretty similar to the youth today.
It's a point I've been testing and trying to hint in the forum from time to time. Your "truth" your "perception" is highly influenced by the culture you come from or are expressing. If you say one thing in a certain way, it will have a competely different meaning to the crowd you are talking to depending on what culture they are in, they're age, where they are from, etc. but the content can be exactly the same if translated into a different cultural context.
