i agree. avoid, step away, do not engage. who cares what makes them tick, their compulsion to manipulate or hurt anything that they come across is impossible to negotiate with. dealing with them is purely for the professionals who make it their life work. always keep them at a respectful distance, never allow them to socialise with you. deflect their attention from you in any way you can. blend into the background, become invisible, be boring, polite, blank, distant, placid, and completely neutral. do not challenge them in any way. do not avoid noticing them, and do not go out of your way to notice them. radiate a dull, disinterested, generalised, nonthreatening peacefulness and security. smile and remain present but just slightly preoccupied, keep your mind on your happy thought, imagine you are in the most safe place you can think of with someone trustworthy who loves you. make yourself completely useless and unnecessary to them and never trust them with anything at all, even the most minor detail. do not allow them to gain your trust. speak as little as possible when around them without drawing attention to the fact that you are not talking much. just try to keep as far as possible to the periphery of their sphere of influence until you can escape from them completely.
