Why are you here if you are not INFJ?

Very honest answer, because I'm bored and I like to explore small community forums and see their dymanics and other creepy reasons like this, and also because I know two INFJs [me typing them - grain of salt] and deeply dislike them, so I'm hanging out here trying to get a better sense of essance d'INFJ, in lieu of actually trying to go out and get INFJ friends, which would be a feat I'm tempted to try to pull off regardless, because yall aren't that bad :kissingheart:

Also there's some talk of cookies, gimme.

What is it about them that rubs you the wrong way?

Well, the first one I wouldn't say that they rubbed me the wrong way, more like blatantly backstabbed me. Pretended to be friendly and understanding and ignored me when I actually needed them. Fair weather friend. Then on top of that I actually overheard them talking shit about me. Then I actually learned that this person would try to belittle me to others to. I did not have the slightest clue they were feeling this antagonistic towards me. I've always struggled with reading people's intentions, and that particular person has caused me to be kind of paranoid and question everyone's intentions, even people I've known a long time.

The other suspected INFJ I don't like because they give me the same smarmy vibes.

There's also a relative of mine whom I like very much and I think is ISFJ, but could be INFJ because she's older and has lived in a very heavily sensor environment and could be masking.

Just ask nicely

Wait, I don't even know if the cookies are real yet.

@niar are you ENTP?

You just opened a can of worms haha. I'm not sure. I tend to think I'm INTP but I've been between ENTP, INTP and even INFJ in the past. I think I'm not INFJ, but some form and order of NT. It's so hard to type yourself with all the stupid stereotypes around. I read some Socionics and took a couple tests, which tested me as ENFP, which further complicates things lol. I don't think I'm Fi, but I grew up in a heavily Fe family, everyone's NFJ and STP, so it could be that I just learned to not be Fi. Go fgure.

Right

I thought your bias comment to the OP in the "Easily Offended"-thread was very ENTP btw (I'm still ruminating).

Ruminating oh boy. I'd love to hear the results of the rumination. I think.
Maybe I should rethink ENTP. To be honest, I'm kind of sold on INTP because I have an INTP close and they're literally me. But perhaps these two types are more similar than other pairs.

I notice a lot of people who are not INFJs find their way here to get advice about an INFJ in their life - whether it's someone they're dating, want to date, a friend, a colleague, etc. Then they end up staying for the community.

Then you get the ones that come here and when they post their intro threads they talk about wanting to "observe" INFJ's and don't really seem to be interested in the community and act like they're on a fact finding mission.

Then there are people who think they're an INFJ when they arrive here and after interacting with other INFJS rethink their type.

The initial reason isn’t interesting, but why did I stay and why did I come back?

Well, admittedly for selfish reasons.

Quite simply, I’ve never found any other singular group of people who are, on average, so....right in all the ways I care about.

And who wouldn’t wanna have that experience as often as possible?

Ne got me here, Fi said it was so very good, Te declared that reasonable, Si vetted it against every other forum experience, ever, and it not only checked out, it defined the standard going forward.

So the people really. What they share, what they say, and the way they say it. The lack of snark here makes it feel like I’ve gone through a portal and are now in a strange land...a refuge from the storm, even.

I’ve seen enough to know that this is the business, full stop.

Plus, I could read the runes at the entry gate, so I was in like Flynn.

Cheers,
Ian

This last one is me.

And I just don't feel as comfortable expressing myself on any other forum. I think it's easy to make oneself at home here... And then just never leave :grimacing::laughing:
There's no place like this forum out there. And the internet can be a cold twisted place.

If I may get a little sappy, I legit love some of you in an adopted family sort of way. And we've been through a lot here together. Especially considering the last nearly 2 years of COVID.

okay, hol’up...no sap, no sarcasm, I’ve been on many forums and people come and people go. Only when someone leaves here have I ever shed a tear. When I got back recently, I read many older threads, saw some names, and...

I think there are just a lot of discussions on typology that are interesting here. It's often hard for people to decide they're a given type without considering alternatives and ruling them out, so a lot of the discussion gets into the similarities and differences.

But anecdotally, once I studied the functions version of the theory, I considered the various N types with Ti. I have considered INTP or a "NT>FS" flavored INFJ during the process, and also juggled many versions of the functions theory before deciding on an understanding I think most elegant. And eventually, I actually decided there wasn't a good reason to rule out an e-dominant type, and NeTi fit like a glove, and explained the inferior S that I almost always felt most intuitive.
I don't have the same problems around the F-function, and this probably especially fits with my considering myself an "N"-subtype over a "T"-subtype, i.e. where the N>>>S is more prominent than the NT>FS chasm.
I think the INFJ combo and ENTP seem to have interesting potential for dialogue.
