Working Until You Die

When a company does mass layoffs, and it is attributed to AI, keep this in mind—it’s not that AI has replaced those jobs. The labor cost of those let go becomes fluid, and is used to pay for the AI.

Oh, I’ve seen them all. Disaster videos are a way for me to study the human animal, and also a kind of nihilism porn which preserves my mental health by keeping my attachments intentional and in order. So pruning and nourishing.

Thanks for the channel link. I will check it out.

Cheers,
Ian
My favorite is the Tacoma Narrows bridge collapse in 1940. Many causes have been cited, but fundamentally it was resonant amplification. When something starts resonating at it's inherent frequency, the oscillation amplifies exponentially. Same reason why soldiers breakup their lockstep march when crossing a bridge. A few hundred pairs of feet rythmically pounding the pavement in sycronicity has caused many bridges to collapse. You might like this channel...lots of nihilistic disaster "porn"

A Redditor built some graphs to explain to his baby boomer dad why working for a living doesn’t mean what it used to.
