I know exactly how you are feeling and how hard it is to take steps to untangle yourself from people who really desperately seem to need you. It breaks the heart sometimes but you've got to do what's right for you too and like I said, you really are not responsible for him!

Nah, you're definitely an introvert. I know that in MBTI terms "extrovert" doesn't quite mean the same thing, but the two are related. You could very well be an INFJ though, they are unique amongst the J types as they're generally non-controlling.
You just strike me as an NP really. No real reason behind this, just a feeling.
