    I suppose it might not be detecting/decrypting the LVM properly.

    If you get the rescue option it should indicate that GRUB2 itself is working but isn't detecting something about the system.

    Also note though that once you chroot, it will be 'jailed'. In other words it switches over to this new root and all the commands that go with it, which can hypothetically be different than what you chroot from.

    You can chroot into anything pretty much, so long as what you're chrooting to has all the stuff it needs to work, i.e. a full toolchain.

    So yup, you should be able to chroot from live.

    Nothing was wrong with the email. It's just that the email address that I used to register way back in the day doesn't exist anymore, so I went in and I changed it to the one listed on my account right now. As soon as I did that, however, I ran into issues with posting and pming because I did not have sufficient permissions to use those areas of the forum.
