US > Iran conflict begins

So some things to expect is the shortages will appear as this war drags on starting with fuel then later other goods. Any peace achieved will be false as Iran will rearm then eventually attack energy infrastructure in the region again on a wider scale. This year we could see fuel rationing then eventually other goods particularly food. This war is setting the stage for the US China conflict over Taiwan which will have a much greater impact.

Don't be surprised if they bring back the lockdowns along with fuel rationing to limit consumption if things get bad enough.
A few points to correct here. US, Israel, and Iran are all causing this. For purposes of recording accurate history, both in 2025 and 2026, the US bombed Iran first without --by rules of war definition-- acceptable factual provocations from Iran.

Furthermore, granted that, to borrow @John K's imagery, Iran is a hornet's nest ----the Middle East is NOT the U.S.' garden.

Petroleum comes from the Middle East, but so do the basis materials for fertilizer.

Petroleum affects harvesting and distribution.
Fertilizer affects yields and soil resilience.

No biomass from harvest means no ability to flex E85. America produces light sweet crude. For our general use, we must import heavy sour crude.

You think groceries are expensive now? You just wait.

Buckle Up, Buttercup,

Yup. Plastic is a byproduct of refineries. Packaging will shoot up too.

"You know, if people want to be naive, then they don’t see the kind of world we’re living in. In this world, it’s not enough to be moral. It’s not enough to be just. It’s not enough to be right. You know, one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, someone that I admire a lot, was the historian Will Durant. Now, he wrote many volumes. I read most of them. He also wrote The Lessons of History, a very brief, 100-page book, in which he said, well, history proves that, unfortunately and unhappily, Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan. Because if you are strong enough, ruthless enough, powerful enough, evil will overcome good. Aggression will overcome moderation." -Netanyahu, March 20, 2026.

It fascinates me that this guy and imagined Christians like Hegseth are such good friends. There is no godliness in this man's views; only lust for power. Ironically, he reveals himself an animal beneath a barbarian. At this point, a quiet weed in a forgotten meadow is more precious to me than the worldview of the likes of this man.

All that aside. This means one thing and one thing only. This war will escalate to proportions many of us cannot survive. These words are rationalizations for more destruction to come.

The Persian Gulf is the water source for 100 million people.

Desalinization infrastructure doesn’t work if the input port contains oil.

Tankers have burned and spilled, after being attacked, to say nothing of the poisons being released by sunken Iranian Navy vessels.

Will Iran actually target desalinization plants with missiles?

This alone could create chaos.

Cheers,
Ian

Looks like I picked an.... invigorating..... week to get into the stock market. Watching FTSE tumble while waiting for TACO and sure enough....

.....TACO just happened.
I wonder how long it will last...

Maybe the Iranians have reduced their war reparation demands... Lol.
The Iranians denied it as per Al Jazeera. No negotiation happened.

So somebody is serving tacos without consent, maybe for the market and for the sake of investors.

From the rumor mill that if any deal is reach but later broken Iran will get the full Gaza treatment with notice being given to the civilian population to evacuate. Russia is involved as they believe that the US has boots on the ground in Ukraine. China is waiting for the US to commit to a full invasion of Iran before going to war with Taiwan.

Hmm, who said this?

Gulf states spokesperson also talking about need to "diversify" allies after this is over.

The slide continues.

The facts I have gathered for now:
- U.S. sent 15 point ceasefire plan while deploying thousands of troops to the Middle East
- Pakistan is being mentioned as the mediator
- Iran is being bullheaded about the peace talks, which --in my opinion-- is logical since they have been shot from the back twice.
- adjacent news: the Philippines declared a State of National Emergency and reset relations with China. Will it only be a matter of time before they tell US Bases and troops to pack up and leave? The country is desperate for oil.
- there is growing anti-Trump sentiment in Japan despite the Prime Minister's "efforts"
- Cuba is going through nationwide power outage due to US blockades, also producing anti Trump sentiment after a hospital lost patients in critical conditions due to the outage

Please google the references. It might help shake up your algorithm.

My prediction:
- they will not come to an agreement or it may look like it on paper, but US troops will still attempt to invade Iran; more US troop deaths, more Americans get sober about Trump.
-Trump loses footing by November Mid terms, but he still has many tricks for chaos up his sleeve. Much of this will be inward or domestic to the US, but since US armed forces will be stretched thin, ICE will function more and more like a paramilitary until the US elects a non-MAGA president
- Israel will not take this sitting down either which adds to the difficulty of reaching cease fire

Edit: update, it looks like Israel is being stretched thin too. I'm seeing reports of mass migration. Much of Israel is being destroyed. The Middle East will never be thr same from this point on.

- so, this will be a long drawn out war as more and more countries turn coat while being exposed to oil shortage.
- when the war ends, the US will have suffered a major asset deficit. The A.I. bubble, which is susceptible to energy supply disruptions, will not be enough to keep it going.
- enter big pharma (this industry should be kept in view)

There was a "joke" about their use of children wearing belt bombs. They paid the parents to have their children kill themselves to kill Israelis. Even Saddam Hussein was recruiting parents to martyr their children. Suffer not the little children (out of context).

A hornets' nest is best closed at night and burned, if you don't like swarms of hornets. I carry no small stick but canes. Small sticks are for small thinking. My cane for the day is for help walking and balancing.

I try to spend my time looking at what is currently happening and cannot help but feel there are more Iranians that blame the destruction on their leaders than can admit it.

Meanwhile...

I can only hope they know what is coming their way, as this could be stopped. Pride cometh before a haughty fall.

When I think about all that energy being wasted militarizing it, it makes me sick.

Ceasefires can happen overnight, but I have seen teal fly upside down and sideways.

If we are forced to go in, please apply all the lessons we learned in Iraq. Vacuums will be filled again sooner than later. Is there a reasonable exit plan? When?

Iran would make a smart move to become an energy partner with those who can apply the right resources to turn this into a win-win situation. Hatred for Zionists and Jews must stop. Who has the moral integrity to make this into something good? I would try. Lebanon has made a great miscalculation, too.

Nancy Sinatra sang, "One of these days these boots are going to walk all over you."

"Are you ready boots?"
