US > Iran conflict begins

So some things to expect is the shortages will appear as this war drags on starting with fuel then later other goods. Any peace achieved will be false as Iran will rearm then eventually attack energy infrastructure in the region again on a wider scale. This year we could see fuel rationing then eventually other goods particularly food. This war is setting the stage for the US China conflict over Taiwan which will have a much greater impact.

Don't be surprised if they bring back the lockdowns along with fuel rationing to limit consumption if things get bad enough.
A few points to correct here. US, Israel, and Iran are all causing this. For purposes of recording accurate history, both in 2025 and 2026, the US bombed Iran first without --by rules of war definition-- acceptable factual provocations from Iran.

Furthermore, granted that, to borrow @John K's imagery, Iran is a hornet's nest ----the Middle East is NOT the U.S.' garden.

Petroleum comes from the Middle East, but so do the basis materials for fertilizer.

Petroleum affects harvesting and distribution.
Fertilizer affects yields and soil resilience.

No biomass from harvest means no ability to flex E85. America produces light sweet crude. For our general use, we must import heavy sour crude.

You think groceries are expensive now? You just wait.

Buckle Up, Buttercup,

Yup. Plastic is a byproduct of refineries. Packaging will shoot up too.

"You know, if people want to be naive, then they don’t see the kind of world we’re living in. In this world, it’s not enough to be moral. It’s not enough to be just. It’s not enough to be right. You know, one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, someone that I admire a lot, was the historian Will Durant. Now, he wrote many volumes. I read most of them. He also wrote The Lessons of History, a very brief, 100-page book, in which he said, well, history proves that, unfortunately and unhappily, Jesus Christ has no advantage over Genghis Khan. Because if you are strong enough, ruthless enough, powerful enough, evil will overcome good. Aggression will overcome moderation." -Netanyahu, March 20, 2026.

It fascinates me that this guy and imagined Christians like Hegseth are such good friends. There is no godliness in this man's views; only lust for power. Ironically, he reveals himself an animal beneath a barbarian. At this point, a quiet weed in a forgotten meadow is more precious to me than the worldview of the likes of this man.

All that aside. This means one thing and one thing only. This war will escalate to proportions many of us cannot survive. These words are rationalizations for more destruction to come.

The Persian Gulf is the water source for 100 million people.

Desalinization infrastructure doesn’t work if the input port contains oil.

Tankers have burned and spilled, after being attacked, to say nothing of the poisons being released by sunken Iranian Navy vessels.

Will Iran actually target desalinization plants with missiles?

This alone could create chaos.

Cheers,
Ian

Maybe the Iranians have reduced their war reparation demands... Lol.
The Iranians denied it as per Al Jazeera. No negotiation happened.

So somebody is serving tacos without consent, maybe for the market and for the sake of investors.
