[PAX] ACTUAL Presidential Candidate Discussion 2016

Not open for further replies.
Given the title of your thread naturally I would check it out.
Childish.
But yes I will leave.

About as childish as putting someone on ignore because you refuse to look at all sides of an issue and yet you think you know it all.
That’s just a strange way to think (but that’s just my opinion so I’m sure I’m wrong).
I mean, ezra basically blew all your preconceived notions about Socialism out of the water with his post about his country…and your response is still rich in denial.
You can stay or go, your choice.

I will admit that I am only partially following the presidential election...but someone was talking about how Trump may be being backed by China, given his previous and current relationships with them. Do you guys see any truth?

Also, how do people generally take to Clinton? To me, she seems like a great choice- but I feel that her recent stint in the news has really marked down her credibility (although, from my perspective it seems like such a minor thing compared to what other previous (or current) candidates have done).

I guess I'm asking for a crash course?

I will have to look into the China thing…that I don’t know about.
Clinton is okay…she’s a smart and decisive woman who would probably have the same problem that Obama has had - obstructionism in Congress for reasons other than the legislation, but just to make them look bad.
It’s been a bunch of childish games on both sides now for too many years.
Anyhow…the right-wing media has turned Hilary into Satan personified after Obama, while the left can’t see her shortcomings.

Do you guys know Elizabeth Warren? I would probably vote for her over Bernie Sanders. She's very experienced and knows how to work the system.

Love, love, love her.
A lot of people wanted her to run, but she looks more likely to be someone’s VP candidate if anything at this time.
She said, she feels she still has a lot she wants to try to accomplish in Congress and that she feels she can effect change there just as well…and she may be right.
She’s awesome though.

I would like to see Trump win. Truthfully I think that the USA is so fucked up right now that they desperately need someone who can go in there and turn the country into a more smoothly run business and start getting it financially cleaned up.

Even though he has said a lot of controversial things he is honestly a breath of fresh air in comparison to what I am used to seeing from most candidate vying for any government role. I think it would be fascinating to see what he could do with that country over the course of a term or even two.

It would indeed be interesting to see a Trump Presidency, though I can’t say that I would like to see it happen.
But, nonetheless I would be curious to see how he would go about doing things as opposed to a career politician.

You can't elect a King, that is an affront to God.

I really don't think Trump is running, I believe he is practicing his right to free speech in a way more courageous way than any other billionaire who is influencing the political system and probably going to end up getting a bigger bang for his bucks.

Whenever a "candidate" gets a big response to what they are saying it is wise to look closely at the issue being raised.

I see a lot of people writing him off as a misogynist and a racist, but on immigration it is obvious that we have a real issue that our current pols refuse to "solve". I think this is mainly because we Americans demand cheap labor. I don't know how many families I know that routinely pay contractors that they know are employing undocumented workers, or hiring house cleaners that have no legal status. Its not just businesses.

You could be right about Trump…that’s basically what he did last time around…it wasn’t serious, he just wanted to steer popular opinion to things he likes to get loud about.
Remember a few years back they had that big “bust” at Tyson Chicken because they had a bunch of illegal workers working for them?
Or I remember driving up Hwy 99 in central CA through all the grape vines and cotton fields, some onions, carrots, whatnot…all seasonal workers…there were no white folks or middle class teenage kids saving up for a car out there working.
I don’t see any of those people as a drain to our society, I see them trying to survive and prosper just like everyone else.
Immigration is an issue that needs to be addressed…but every time someone introduces legislation they kick the can down the road…they have done that since…well, forever.

Your entire post here is completely off base. Ezra hardly did anything other than make me realize I have no idea what type of goverment Denmark has been operating under. So I can hardly argue anything in relation. You have been on block for a long while before the question of Presidential candidates came up...so you arent block for that reason alone.
Here you are again labeling me with nothing substantial to back up your claims which...is also a reason you were put on block a while ago.

That is the thing that is fascinating about it. He is not relying on other people's money really to support himself, he is obviously an exceptionally successful business man and he is willing to say openly and bluntly a lot of things that most people think but are afraid to say because of backlash. I find the level of blunt honesty to be delightfully refreshing.

Dude, I’m not going to go back and dig up all the posts where you fit that label, but I’m not the only one who thinks that.
I don’t want to argue with you anymore, the point of starting this thread was so everyone could express their views without you basically calling anyone who doesn’t like a Republican or Libertarian an idiot.
You have an obvious bias against Obama and anything that is remotely supported by a democrat or could be perceived as “liberal” and you ignore any stories or factual information presented if it contradicts your personal beliefs.
I just don’t wish to be misjudged by you anymore, we have an obvious communication block…so let’s just let it go.

I know that some of you dudes don't like each other but I really wish that you'd put a bit of the egos aside and shut the fuck up about it already.

If you honestly have a difficult time participating in a conversation where you have to play the blame game and resort to insulting each other and getting backed into a corner because, god forbid, you approach the world and certain subjects from different perspectives then maybe you need to really take a look at yourself and what you are trying to get out of the exchange.

Not that I can speak on behalf of the entire forum, so I won't, but I know I personally would like to be able to go into a thread without seeing a bunch of grown ass adults having a verbal slap fest with each other over a difference in approach and opinions.

I mean honestly... Just stop. If I can't respect you because of this kind of stuff that keeps cropping up then there's no hope of you respecting each other so you should just learn to shut up. Everyone else suffers.

He’s blunt…but a lot of what he says is just kind of asshole-ish sometimes (much like myself on occasion).
Like the shit he said about the news commentator having her time of the month…I mean, come on…normal adults don’t say shit like that because most people would hate us. It just seems unnecessary.
But it’s okay because he’s rich and above social graces? It’s just kind of rude.

As far as his business practices go, he for sure knows how to make money…I don’t deny that, and just because he’s an asshole doesn’t mean he can’t be a good President too. I know he won’t be the first (or the last).

I have let it go…like I said, everyone can post their opinion here…I’m not stopping him from posting negatively about Obama, he’s free to do it here…but don’t ignore me because you disagree with my politics.
That’s not a real discussion.

It may be that the pendulum swings a little too far with him but it is a nice change from everyone being afraid to say something true or share their opinions on certain matters because the whole world gets offended. People are so sensitive to everything and no one knows how to have a constructive dialogue anymore. Maybe this will lead to people opening up a bit more and having an honest conversation about what the issues with the country really are and it can be done constructively. It doesn't have to be rude or offensive.

I understand how it becomes less desirable to argue either when you know you will lose or already have. I have not been arguing.
I absolutely have a bias toward Democrats and have never claimed differently.
If the only point of creating a thread was to discuss Presidential candidates you could have done so without mirroring mine so closely. So I do argue that was not the ONLY point of it as you say.

That’s not a real discussion.

The Ignore function is there for a reason. If he feels that it is in his and your best interest to use it I don't see a problem with it.

There are some people here that I cannot stand so I ignore them. I don't think it's childish. It lets me go on the forum without having to be faced with their garbage.

You’re right.
I just see a lot of his comments seemingly are designed to make people angry about whatever it is he’s talking about.
He just seems so angry…and I understand a lot of folks feel angry at how things are right now too…so they can empathize with what he’s saying and latch onto that.
He isn’t like that all the time, but those are the 5 seconds blips that make it into the news…”Oh my, look what Trump said now!”.
Hahaha
Our media is so messed up.

No more dude.
Stop.
Let’s chill.

I will assume this is either in relation to my posts, responses to them or both. Ill say this about it for now. Fully expect that if my character is called into question I absolutely will defend myself.

Aaannnyhow.
@ezra

What is it that you like about your country’s current political system and what needs reforming?

It's about all the exchanges in here that deviate from the original topic. So much for the thread being PAX. It's absurd.

Our media is so messed up.

It certainly gets people talking about difficult subject matter and brings their attention to things that may otherwise be swept under the rug. It's a start. Even if it's not the ideal way to broach certain subjects.
