Corona / Wuhan virus

Those who know me, know I’ve been living in a germ conscious world for years. Here are some tips and tricks I’ve used along with common sense social isolation when necessary.

*no sugar/dairy (feeds disease and makes mucus in the respiratory system)
* do not use the same laundry basket for clean and dirty clothes.
* everyone should have their own toothpaste since most people touch the tip with their toothbrush.
* stay super hydrated and eat lots of dark rich colors which offer any antioxidants in polyphenols.
*Use a hand sanitizer that protects you for four hours, not an alcohol-based that only kills the germs currently on your hands.
* make everyone load their own dirty dish into the dishwasher this way one person isn’t touching everyone’s dirty dishes.
* Open the windows for fresh air every chance you get.
* make sure you are getting enough vitamin D, which many Americans are deficient in.
*get more vitamin C when you need too.
* leave shoes outside the front door or in the mudroom. Wash hands with soap and change your shirt/clothes as soon as you come home.
* if someone is sick, isolate them to one bedroom, one bathroom, and use paper products for food and drink.
*Constipation is a no-no, drink plenty of fluids.
*A clean house is a must. Dust, dirt, allergens, all weaken our ability to fight off new germs because our body is already stressed.
*Get rest and be at peace. Stress also weakens the immune system.
* processed foods confuse the body and keep it in a state of chaos. Eating clean allows your body a window of opportunity to fight infection.
*change your bed sheets/towels/linens often. This isn’t the time to be co-sleeping for fun.
*be sure to take all of your medications. Pharmacies are still open and filling most perscriptions for 90 days, some longer if your insurance allows. For those with little or no insurance there are some pharmacies willing to file undue hardship so you do not go without important medication, you'll need to call around for this benefit.
*layoffs have begun. Most states have a number in the menu for COVid-19 unemployment benefits, this cancels the first week of waiting.
*WASH HANDS WITH SOAP! Rinse and repeat often. Use sanitizer on the go. Clorine bleach, Lysol, Dawn, and Pinesol are proven to kill the virus on hard and soft surfaces. Nondiluted white vinegar and sassafrass oil is still the best disinfectant if you'd rather not use chemicals. These and baking soda work in the washer too.
*For Mom's & Dad's with little ones who need formula, your out and you cannot find any...mix 32 ounces water with two cans evaporated milk, 2 tablespoons karo syrup, and 3 droppers poly vi sol infant vitamins, (will say on box at the drugstore), shake well, refridgerate and heat up as you would feed normally.

Remember, a healthy body that isn’t stressed or compromised is DESIGNED to fight infection! Give it the window of opportunity to do so by not stressing it with worry, crappy food, alcohol, and unrest. A compromised or unhealthy body doesn't have the same reponse, please stay away from those you know that may have existing health concerns as it will take their body twice as much effort to fight off this virus. Let us all do what we can to help each other through this.

Hope this helps us to be aware! A small inconvenience in time and adjusting to a new normal will be minimal in the long run. Feel free to comment with ideas that you think are helpful too. :)

San Francisco and counties surrounding the Bay Area are going into lockdown starting tonight and people are only allowed to leave their homes for only extreme necessities such as grocery shopping, health services, take-out food, and can only be outside in their neighborhoods within a certain measurable distance.

Meanwhile, my parents, grandparents and family are still goint to work. Unable to choose their own safety, they take the public transportation and risk themselves and others due to the fact that they're not on a privileged group. Private schools and some government institutions remain closed... but... what for?

I was in the shops earlier and witnessed some lady putting maybe two dozen 2-pint jugs of milk in her trolley that already had toilet roll in it.

So I did what any other sane person would do and just started wheezing from the comedy of it - I had to walk out the store I couldn't stop just madly laughing. I hope, whoever she is, she finds good use in roughly 48pints worth of perishable goodness.

Also sleep (if you can...ugh) is a huge contributor to a healthy immune system...(it did list rest, but could be taken as different).
