I hope it's because of the social distancing efforts
Lmao I hadn't even thought about that, that's a good point, but I seriously doubt that has anything to do with it
I hope it's because of the social distancing efforts
I do agree.*shrugs* What do you want from me?
To embrace Communism? Stalin did more harm to his own people than the White Russian Government. Mao's cultural revolution destroyed thousands of historic sites.
Should we regulate Capitalism? Absolutely I'm not saying the current system is perfect and doesn't need tweaks.
Hell, some Social Policies are a good idea. The Nordics show what a good blend of Capitalism with Social policies can do.
However to drop Capitalism entirely is further than ANY Social Democractic country has ever gone. And not a good idea.
Again, any new system which doesn't have the politial flaws of Socialism or the moral flaws of Capitalism I will embrace it. I'm not smart enough to come up with a better option but when someone does, I will support it.
Oh my. You're sick? I know ginger is expensive there but maybe people haven't hoarded it yet. Stay away from ibuprofen just in case. Stick with paracetamol and chlorphenamine. No results back on my daughter's test. She was told Friday (thanks trump) or Monday if not by then. She's feeling better, still has a wicked cough.
My condition is pretty much par for course. Something going through me, but no major issues as of the moment. Fingers crossed.
How are you?
No no, not sick that way. Just asthma that is only well controlled with an inhaler the insurance will not cover ($600 a pop) so they have me on the next best thing that is "good enough" in their eyes. Have a slight cold or just my normal tree pollen allergies on top of that.Oh my. You're sick? I know ginger is expensive there but maybe people haven't hoarded it yet. Please get well soon!
Observe quarantine efforts seriously. If the press is right, you guys are more susceptible. Please please stay cautious! No no, not sick that way. Wife is watching the news.
Footage out of Italy of a line of Military trucks moving the bodies of the dead to free up space, a huge convoy, gods it looks grim.

Firstly Ancient Greece ran on Slavery and only landowning Men could vote, so comparing Ancient Greek Democracy to Modern Democracy isn't really comparable.
Secondly, Ancient Greece still had a Mercantile class and worked through trade of goods for money which is basically a lower form of capitalism. Loans still existed. Trade still existed. What did Ancient Greece NOT have which we do have today that make us Capitalist and them not? Banks? Theft was extremely common and the Greeks carried money in their mouths. Also building major projects like roads was very difficult and pretty much impossible without Slavery. Today its not perfect but your average American or British builder has a much better life than an Ancient Greek Slave. Also they didn't have the population of a modern nation. Greece was less than 5 milllion people. Modern nations have 10 to 200 or more times that.
Third. how did the Soviet Union put Rockets into Space? Sergei Korolev. This man was a hero right? Actually he had to be dragged out of Gulag where he was imprissioned. He also died young because of possible complications after being in said Gulag.
Dictatorships don't respect science, and the RARE instances they do, its because they want weapons or superiority over a foe.
Democracy allows Science to florish in many directions. Dictatorships tend to silence science they don't like (See also the Great Firewall of China).
Also the Soviet Union is a perfect example of how a country that followed Socialist ideas became rulled by a single man, So did China. And Veitnam. And North Korea.
Social Democracy is fine but it still uses Capitalism. See the Nordic Countries, they are all still very Capitalist despite using Socialist programs.
If someone comes up with a superior version of Capitalism with none of the drawbacks of pure Socialism I will welcome it. Until they, hypothetical non-exisitance possibilities are no good to the real world.
Time to dust off the ol' war boots...BTW. . . I'm a retired nurse. . the idea of bring back the retired for a new medical crisis is delusional at best
And my son's varsity baseball season has been cancelled. Our governor (Indiana) just shut down our schools til May.
Things sound good though! At least considering the circumstances. That deserves a yay!No results back on my daughter's test. She was told Friday (thanks trump) or Monday if not by then. She's feeling better, still has a wicked cough.
