Good animes or manga

I had mixed feelings about Death Note... I thought it was a juvenile premise and was just overhyped in general. I'm glad I gave it a chance and it redeemed itself as things started getting complex.

That wasn't my thing but it still looks to be worth watching.

Well the plot is very well structured and I suppose its geared towards
an audience fond of cyberpunk culture, but I think if you like The Matrix,
you'll like this. Seeing as how the Wachowski Brothers notably mention
that the 1995 original film directly influenced their Matrix trilogy.

If my profile picture was not evident enough, I have one name for you, and one only: Hayao Miyazaki.

You forgot Akira =p

And Neon Genesis Evangelion! That's like...the classic of classics.

I also liked Mushishi, and Paprika, the movie (though it gave me nightmares).

One that made me bawl like a baby: Grave of the Fireflies (movie). That's a box of tissues gone, right there.

Loved Fruits Basket...

Also loved both manga and anime of xxxHolic.

there's one called mimi wo sumaseba
(if you listen closely)

Studio Gibli made a movie of it .. has anyone seen it or read the comic? I was able to get a few pages online, but nothing more :-(

It's about a girl who likes to read and she finds out all the books she checks out at the library are all being checked out too, by one person..who turns out to be a boy etc etc

Evangelion never really did it for me for some reason. It was okay, but yeah, I have to admit that I've nver really understood what all the fuss was about. :/

LORDCOSMOS's list reminded me of a couple of others I like though;

Series:
Giant Robo
Tenchi Muyo (the original episodes)
Devil-Man
3x3 Eyes
Cyber City Oedo 808

Movies:
The Castle of Cagliostro
Wings of Honneamise
Patlabor

The Ghibli movie version (Whisper of the Heart) is right up there with Grave of the Fireflies and Only Yesterday at the top of my all time favourite films list.

Sailor Moon 1st 3 series were good.
Neon Genesis Evagelion
Elfen Lied
Record of Lodoss Wars
Ninja Scroll
Kimagura Orange Road
Vampire Hunter D

are a few of my favs.

FLCL and Cowboy Bebop are my all time favorites. I have a very special place in my heart for Super Milk-chan.

I haven't been watching very much lately. The last couple I watched were Elfen Lied and Akira. I wouldn't say I liked them, but they were good. The last one I liked was Scrapped Princess, but I wouldn't say it was very good. Does that make sense? As you can see I'm a bit behind the times.

Nerima Daikon Brothers is funny, and I could use a good laugh right about now.

No one has mentioned Witch Hunter Robin.

It's awesome.

Most of the other stuff mentioned is too =)

also Kikaider and Blue Gender are decent.

*Jyu-Oh-Sei

Ghost in the Shell

---Manga:
*Fullmetal Alchemist
Tagami Bachi (anime started and seems okay so far)
07-Ghost (bad anime)
Saiyuki (and Saiyuki Reload, third series is yet to start, really bad anime)
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (bad anime)
Shaman King (really bad anime)
Ruroni Kenshin (anime is somewhat good, ending OVA great)
Death Note (so-so anime, really bad live action movies)
*D.Gray-Man (haven't watched the anime)

The * ones are the best of all that you MUST read/watch (I demand it! lol)

This one looks interesting.

With The Light
is about Sachiko, a young mother and her struggles to understand autism and her autistic son Hikaru. Volume 1 takes us from Hikaru's birth to his early years in preschool and elementary school. As the years go by, Sachiko deals with her own confusion, fears and feelings of failure, as friends, strangers, family and even her husband misunderstand, judge and blame her for Hikaru's behavior. Fortunately, with support from her doctors, social workers and Hikaru's teachers, Sachiko comes to understand her child's special needs. Every challenge and every tiny triumph become another opportunity to learn more about Hikaru's world and chase away the clouds of myths and misconceptions about autism.

I must read it.
