Yes, I've read quite a lot about our "2nd brain".
My silly question to myself has been does our upstairs brain run our analytics and logics, and does our gut brain run our feelings/sensory our physicality?
Not quite, well yes, and no. Our logical regulation is mostly produced upstairs, we have specific parts in our brains which specialise in processing these logical cognitive functions, which have evolved in a later stage from our original brain structure (I can try to give you the specifics on it, will take a bit to look it up again, I assume it’s the neo-cortex region).
It is, however, in its essence a contradiction to where Nature itself would evolve to. There is no advantage in survival in using cognitive functions; sensory and instinctive reactions are much more in our advantage to survive the dangers in Nature. Humans (and some animals in extent) however took advantage in the use of a range of tools for survival and with that the ability of logical reasoning and decision making.
Our feeling and/or sensory part, however, is a mixture of everything. It is the evolution of our primordial brain, combined with the evolution of our gut brain as well as our whole sensory nerve system / hormonal system. Our decision making will always be partially based on this; pure rational decision making is an illusion, as we co-depent on what our body says when making that decision.
