Trump will win again

Speaking of, JD thinks Haitians come from Haysha :tearsofjoy:

Talk about out of touch. Haitia? He might have meant SouthEast Haysha 🤣. Did you think it was strange that there were no primary or run off elections this time? It was just Trump and Biden then Kamala. It feels like they didn't have time to fit all the bullshit they are trying to do this year and started trimming the least painful fat. It's feeling more scripted as things progress. I spend most of my time doing Se stuff these days. Lot of bare footing.
Niar, I'm sorry for being snappy a few times in the past. C19 was and still is divisive. I realized a few years back that I was too reactive and emotionally affected by things and situations that I had no direct tie to. I just want to apologize for singling out a comment that wasnt directed at me and not just being nice about it.

Does anyone believe this malarkey?

The concern would be that in all likelyhood 95% of the statement is false.
Couldn't people make these same arguments about Harris? So if someone says Harris said x y z and her position is x y z on an issue and I just say, oh yeah she's lying, then how are we even supposed to vote. In fact I do see that a lot, I see people saying Harris has switched her positions to be more moderate but she is actually a liberal socialist extremist and that she will do a b c instead of x y z. Well, ok, so everyone is just lying about their positions, what's the point in caring?

They found terabytes of video.

Is Diddy going to get Epsteined?

Trump sure does have (and had) some morally repugnant friends.

Not a good look. Nope. They are about 20 yrs old too. Just my outlook, If she gets in it will be ww3 and possibly pandemic 2.0. If he gets in all hell breaks loose from the people that have crossed over, the market crashes and possibly pandemic 2.0. No worries Regardless. You will continue on, maybe not here though. 🙂

Harris doe not have the credibility issue that trump has painstakingly earned.

I want to say fair, but I also find it hard to prove credibility of politicians in general. Feels like just a thing you say to discount somebody no matter who it is-- 'they're lying!'.

And also, often when this is used, it is a case that the person changed their mind. Or as Hillary Clinton might have said, her opinion "evolved" on certain issues such as gay marriage. So I wonder how we distinguish these, parse this out objectively speaking.

If you do not see the difference between the lies that trump constantly spews and the political hedging that Harris engages then perhaps you can explain to me how it is ok to for trump to spread the lie that Haitians are abducting pets and eating them as a means to call attention to the idea that since the Black legal immigrant population of Springfield Ohio is growing that means that white people are thereby being displaced?

How is it ok to use a blatant lie in order to promote a white supremacist ideology? If you really do not see any difference then ....

I'm not sure that was as much as a lie as it was poor fact checking. What happened with that is, somebody posted a rumor on facebook, somebody from springfield, source:

'It just exploded': Springfield woman claims she never meant to spark false rumors about Haitians

The woman behind an early Facebook post that helped spark baseless rumors about Haitians eating pets told NBC News that she feels for the immigrant community.

Then, after this was posted, Jack Posobiec made a tweet. I see references to this tweet but could not locate a screenshot. Anyway, this tweet was basically him summarizing this rumor which was actually posted by this real Springfield resident. From there it was circulated on every right-wing news media.

Harris claimed that Trump met with the Taliban leader (he did not) and also said that Trump sold chips to China...he didn't. Actually he put some of the first restrictions on semiconductor chip on China, policies which the Biden administration maintained and further, he began the transition to encourage American manufacturers to start creating chips at home...a policy that the Biden administration continued.

However, I do understand that there are a lot of people who are really into the anti-colonialism/anti racist ideology, and that seems to be the place you're coming from. I think it's as extreme as Trump, but on the opposite side. There are these Leftist extremists and Right Wing extremists, basically no moderates anymore. And again, I am not trying to disparage you-- I think there is a place for the 'extremists' actually in terms of, they push the system for stuff that is unrealistic and will never happen, but some progress is made which is usually a good middle ground. Basically in politics, you get maybe 30-40% of what you were advocating for, so if you advocate over the top, the amount which gets satisfied is actually satisfactory. So I have to thank these more 'far left' types for bringing about a lot of the work and labor movements that gave us like 40 hour work weeks and stuff. Its not a bad thing I just kind of get this knee-jerk reaction like, "Wow you are going too far". And I get that sense with like, 80% of the population now, lol. People seem nuts to me. (Not you, of course ;) )

"All the evidence suggests this is not “a baseless urban legend.” Rather, it is a packaged neo-Nazi attack designed to sow violence against migrant communities.
According to a local leader in the Haitian community, while there were tensions, none of that boiled up until a car accident involving a legal Haitian ended up killing a school boy.

What were things like over the course of the first couple of years that you were living in Springfield? Was the community welcoming?

We were just here working peacefully and caring about our family and all of this. The community was okay. There was still a group of people in Springfield who saw the coming of the Haitians as a threat. But normally, generally, the community was so open with us. We had so many people working with us and things like this. Until the recent incident of the recent bus accident and people have been building up on that just to tell bad news about us.

So you think the bus accident was when things really started to change?

Yeah, it triggered it. There was some tension before but not like it came after the bus accident.
A neo-Nazi group responded to that by organizing a march in the town. And then one of them created a conflict at a local city commission.
Late last month, a neo-Nazi group called Blood Ties organized a march outside the Springfield Jazz and Blues Festival. At the Aug. 26 city commission meeting, Drake R. Berentz took credit for organizing that march while introducing himself via an anti-Black pseudonym. He was promptly removed from the hearing after stating, “Crime and savagery will only increase with every Haitian you bring in.”
A national far right network with intimate ties to Trump’s team start magnifying disinformation from Springfield.
Shortly after, racist claims aimed at the state’s Haitian community began to surge online, boosted by known disinformation outlets and eventually echoed by GOP officials.

The unfounded narrative that Haitian immigrants were eating pets reached national attention after being repeated this week first by Republican vice presidential nominee J.D. Vance (the junior senator from Ohio) and then his running mate Donald Trump at the latter’s debate with Kamala Harris.

The origins of the conspiracy theory remain largely unknown, but a New Lines investigation has identified several points of amplification from known spreaders of disinformation. Its fairly rapid spread reveals how extremist narratives travel from the fringes of the internet into the mouths of politicians, seemingly overnight.

Less than a week earlier, End Wokeness, an account on X (formally Twitter) that has been connected in the past to the white nationalist Jack Posobiec, shared a Facebook post alleging that Haitian immigrants were eating pets in Ohio. The claim was quickly repeated by the political commentator and founder of Turning Point USA, Charlie Kirk, during his broadcast hosted on Steve Bannon’s media network.

Kirk commented that this brought the United States “one step closer to the great replacement,” referring to a white nationalist narrative that claims non-white immigrants are replacing white people in the U.S. The narrative was originally obscure but has been increasingly embraced by the GOP mainstream in recent years.

Kirk is a close associate of Posobiec. Both his claims and the End Wokeness account’s tweet reference a single anonymous post on a private Facebook group as proof of their claims.

This was followed up on Sept. 8, when the End Wokeness account tweeted a video from a Springfield City Commission meeting where an influencer and podcaster named Anthony Harris claimed Haitian immigrants were eating ducks in the parks. This seemingly spawned from a repurposed image of a man holding a dead Canada goose in Columbus, Ohio, taken a month before.

This entire story, then, is about creating false stories in order to stoke far right violence against immigrants. It’s not an urban legend. It is deliberate propaganda.

It is already having real effects on the Haitians in Springfield." https://www.emptywheel.net/2024/09/...etcon-his-fascist-attack-on-haitian-migrants/

Just my outlook, If she gets in it will be ww3

"Mom, I am scared, I don't wanna fight in ww3".
"Quit being selfish boy, mommy needs a woman president".

Look at the terrifying, evil grin on the face of the Democratic senator Bob Casey Jr. while Josh Shapiro autographs a missile.

I wonder when will the Nazi name calling stop having an effect on people. Democrats are calling Republicans Nazis since the Reagan days. Nazis were literally obliterated from the face of the Earth after WW2 and Nuremberg trials and there is NO serious Nazi political party anywhere in the world.

But sure, Trump is spreading deliberate lies against Haitians because he is a Nazi.

I always wondered who the heck falls for that rhetoric...

yeah, that's all that Marcy Wheeler is doing, just calling folks nazis, that's it, same old same old, wolf wolf wolf.

I need to be banned from this topic. It triggers me too much. In a way I enjoy arguing and bickering, but then I forget there's an actual person on the other side and I become too insensitive. Ofc I'd never act like this IRL.

Sorry for everyone that I pissed of here or even hurt. Still, bit of advice to hedge emotionally because the person you don't like or even hate might win.

Peace and love, I'll really try to restrain from commenting here.
