What religion do your personal beliefs resemble?

I think he's referring to me.:m027: I like a lot of what Levey has to say. Really the only part that gets me is that I I cling to "Harm none" and Satanism doesn't. So I cherry pick the bits I like (like not pissing people off, not complaining about what I impose on myself, not shying away from natural impulses, but I avoid the small parts like "treat him cruelly and without mercy"), and don't even pretend to be Satanic (because that very act/mentality proves I'm not).

"Holopantheistic" meaning what exactly? "Entire-All-God"-istic?

I think the main purpose of such tests is to demonstrate how irrelevant all these groupings are. ^^ When people knew just their own thing, it was easy to believe. When facing the full variety of beliefs, each one in particular seems flawed.

Since none of the highest scoring ones fit me, I'll just compile some sections of the descriptions here for what I believe, and say what one it came from. Parts I have added to will be indicated with a bolded section after the category.

Eastern Orthodox--Belief in Deities and Incarnations: There is a Trinity of the Father (God), the Son (Christ), and the Holy Spirit that comprises one God Almighty. God is personal and incorporeal.

Eastern Orthodox--Incarnations: Jesus Christ is God's only incarnation, Son of God and God.

Eastern Orthodox--Origin of universe and life: God created the universe and life. The Bible is not intended to be a scientific revelation, and science is not infallible. There is no desire to create conflict between science and Christian faith.

Conservative Christian Protestant--After death: Saved souls experience the bliss of heaven and unsaved souls the torture of hell. On Judgment Day, Jesus Christ will resurrect the dead, reunite body and soul, and judge each for eternity in heaven or on a restored, paradisiacal earth, or in hell. The souls of the dead will remain "asleep" until the resurrection and final judgment. [my addition follows] The exact nature of heaven and hell isn't something I concern myself with; however, those who reject God will not be removed from God's presence, but rather, remain in it along with those who have accepted God, and instead of experiencing His presence as 'heaven,' it will be experienced as 'hell' due to their rejection. There are no multiple levels of heaven/hell, no greater rewards/punishment due to the amount of good/evil one does; simply put, it's a pass/fail thing. I do not believe in the traditional concept of purgatory; I see it as an instantaneous cleansing process before one enters heaven.

Liberal Christian Protestant--Why evil? God is good and made people inherently good, but also with free will and imperfect nature which leads some to immoral behavior. (The exact nature of Adam/Eve/Satan is irrelevant, hence my omission of the first half of this description.) Secular Humanism--Reasons for wrongdoing are [also] explored through scientific methods, e.g. through study of sociology, psychology, criminology, etc. (two sides of the same coin)

Eastern Orthodox--Salvation: All are already potentially saved (through Christ's death and resurrection), are still being saved (through faith), and will be saved in the future (with the second coming of Christ). Demands faith in and prayers to God the Father, Christ, and the Holy Spirit; good works. Adherence to moral laws is essential [my addition follows] as part of one's faith, but is not necessary for salvation in the sense that the Pharisees became obsessed by the entirety of the law (including cultural law, which only applied to the Jews as enforcing order and improving health in an otherwise nearly barbaric time) so much that they lost sight of the big picture; in other words, don't beat yourself up when you slip up, but still do your best. Sacraments are beneficial but not necessary for salvation. Baptism should be done as a public expression of an inner commitment (NOT as an infant or young child), and is not a prerequisite for salvation--analogous to marriage. Salvation is permanent only in the sense that no one outside of yourself can affect it; it is possible to apostatize oneself.

Eastern Orthodox--Undeserved Suffering: Satan's presence causes pain and suffering. Suffering is God's design to test, teach, or strengthen belief in Him; Liberal Christian Protestant--and is part of God's plan, will, or design even if we don't immediately understand it. Secular Humanism--a matter of human vulnerability to misfortune, illness, natural disasters, and victimization. Rational thinking and human actions can reduce human suffering. [again, two sides of the same coin]

Eastern Orthodox--Issues: Abortion is a sin. (whether it's legal or not is irrelevant) Homosexual behavior is a sin. (whether gay marriage/coupling is legal or not is irrelevant; a gay marriage instituted by the state or a church that condones homosexuality is not an actual marriage since it is not what God instituted marriage as, and God does not change.) Marriage is considered a sacrament and permanent, but divorce and remarriage are not condemned if reconciliation attempts are exhausted. (I'm really sick of churches and their members demonizing people who have gone through divorce.)

Don't have a clue what all that would make me, but whatever.

in other words, my beliefs resemble those of spacey weirdos, and are really far from those of communities that are really successful and not-so-secretly dominant of society

thanks again, internet

Add-on:

Reading into some of these a little more, I'd say my thoughts are with some combination of these ones the most:
Unitarian Universalism, Secular Humanism, Taoism, Non-theist, New Age, New Thought.

Basically, through my experiences, especially my recent ones involving depression and anxiety and healing from it, I vaguely feel that there is a God whose force is in every particle of the universe and is responsible for the creation of it.

I feel that this God cannot be fully understood/fathomed by humans, but my general feeling is something like an omnipresent/omniscient/omnipotent paternal being that just *is*, or maybe just the energy that keeps the charged dualty of the physical world (or both).

I think that my feelings about God are likely to have been influenced by natural selection (i.e., it's beneficial for people to believe in God because it helps their long term health, so people who are more inclined to have spiritual feelings are more present today through natural selection of human species), and also influenced by my upbringing (even though I've never been pressured by anyone in my family or community to believe: my father's family is protestant Christian and I attended church a bit as a kid and am kinda familiar with the Bible, and my mother's family is Buddhist; many of my irl friends are Protestant, Catholic, Buddhist, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh etc), and therefore I feel comfortable in exploring these feelings within myself. I really admire the teachings of Jesus and Buddha and Gandhi and all those other nice chill people (whether or not they were real), and I think they give good advice for how to be nice to others and keep in harmony with nature. I'm sure I could worship them, but I already respect/thank them and I internally express my gratitude towards my life every day, and I don't feel that more is necessary or beneficial at this point. I think the best way to honour people like that is just to try to open your heart to the world and your daily blessings, try to be a good person, and to respect and keep harmonious with the things around you.

I believe there is no way to prove or disprove this sort of thing, and so inside my perception will always be agnostic. This means I think that any religions could very well be legitimate and right, or perhaps all right at the same time, or that there could be absolutely no higher being, but that I will probably never know except maybe when I die.

I just feel that there is a God/force, and I think that it's purely based on my own particular subjective feelings via my own experiences, and as for the particulars, all my answers would be "I only have a vague idea of what it might be" and/or "I don't know". Sometimes I feel that there is no God. Ultimately, it's just all my own changing speculations on the energy in the world and the source of it, and how my life is influenced, and that's just how I accept it to be.
