Where to buy DDs cheap?

I love music. It's like a drug for me. But the common options are just not suitable for me.

I've essentially boycotted iTunes. Amazon is MP3, so low quality. Bandcamp is the best, but all the mainstream music doesn't use Bandcamp, so I can really only get more niche interests there. There's also Qobuz, but I find that extremely pricey. And before you ask, no, I am not going to go with Spotify because I want to actually own the music and pay the artist a fair wage.

Any suggestions? Someone out there has to have a solution...
 
I think your criteria might be too narrow. It sounds like you're looking for:

Lossless / FLAC (or 24 / 192, whatever)
Breadth and depth of genre, including mainstream artists
Inexpensive
Patronage allows you to own the music AND directly support the artist

...You might have to compromise on one of these?


Something to keep in mind is that fidelity is only as good as the weakest link in the signal chain. I know people who pay for lossless audio streaming but listen on a pair of 12 dollar earbuds from CVS. Or the opposite: people who invest thousands into audio equipment, but listen to 15 year old 480p uploads of songs on YouTube. Don't be like one of these people, lol
