Working Until You Die

I put in my resignation last month at my job. I was working in a corporate setting as a senior executive assistant, serving the top overlord in every facet from tying her shoelaces to writing project analysis and data portfolios, all while managing her 7 entities. To say it was toxic is a gross mischaracterization of the truth. Anyway, I did what all good underpaid, unappreciated employees who are true workaholics do, and I put in 70 hours my last week to set up the next person to continue doing my job seamlessly as if I never left. A part of me wonders if my boss even realizes I'm gone or if the new cog is finding their own rhythm.

As for what now...I'm currently trying to figure out what I'd rather be doing with my time. I have a few business ideas, certifications I'm pursuing, and I've started the outline for my book (finally). I decided to take the summer off to invest back into my life what was previously sucked dry like a stale Arby's toothpick. There's no meat here yet, it's all bones, a framework. Who knew insomnia was good for something.

These numbers are a fantasy to most out there unless they only polled like half the population while ignoring your typical blue collar service jobs like fast food, retail, or warehouse etc.
It’s probably accurate, but would seem more real if they had shown median wages, instead of average ones.

Cheers,
Ian

Written by Thomas More in his book Utopia, published in 1516

"for what justice is there in this: that a nobleman, a goldsmith, a banker, or any other man, that either does nothing at all, or, at best, is employed in things that are of no use to the public, should live in great luxury and splendour upon what is so ill acquired. While a mean man, a carter, a smith, or a ploughman, that works harder even than the beasts themselves, and is employed in labours so necessary, that no commonwealth could hold out a year without them, can only earn so poor a livelihood and must lead so miserable a life, that the condition of the beasts is much better than theirs?"

Been saying this for a long time.
Also it's easier to get to know and learn from this demographic.
