Straight INFJ Males

Oh God. Cuddly?
I feel as a man looking at the exact opposite of his soul.

Disturbing.

Question, so VH, as I lately established that you are most certainley no INFJ, and after reading DimensionX's and PJ's fine suggestions, I must ask:

Why are you so obssessed with INFJ's?

I can only assume you want to own one.

INFJ's are useless for anything but relationships. Unless you're a NT that enjoys further proof of humanities utter hopelessness;)

@Melkor: is your resistance to our cuddles some futile attempt to fool yourself that you don't want them? Look at that current avatar of yours... your hunched in a corner (probably for security)... those walls are so white, I'm guessing it's the bathroom or laundry... the hair combed forward - all signs that your hiding something. Hiding your need for cuddles.

Haha, thats my living room sir!

It sure would be grand if my bathroom was as fancy as my living room, and my living room grander still!

As for the fringe, it's my style.

I like to think of it as an emotional inhibitor, covering the forehead and eyebrows and partially masking expression.

Also, I was trying to look thoughtful, but I'm assuming it didn't work.

But yeah, you caught me.

My icy cold exterior and intellectual perkiness are only shrouds to hide my utterly insatiable desire for snuggles.

I would just like to remind you that there is no such thing as an INFJ or an ENFJ or any other type.

They are useful approximations, not fact. You will never be able to say that you are a certain type with absolute certainty because they don't really exist.

This is the main realisation that will help you to truly understand this sort of thing.

I'm not presuming to say I know more about MBTI than you because I don't but this applies to NLP and other theories as well. It isn't meant to be true.

The human brain is far more complicated than any theory we currently have explaining how it works. The biggest trick is in accepting that there will be times it doesn't apply, recognising these situations and then using something else.

Don't believe MBTI, just use it when it's useful

Very good timing on this. I just came to the same conclusions (again).

And I'm certainly no expert on the subject, just trying to expand my understanding of it into smaller and larger scales, and am never offended by advice with the intention of being helpful. Clearly, you've got a pretty solid understanding of it, and were able to point out something I wasn't able to see from the perspective I'd reached. Thanks!

I'll chime in on that other thread I'm tinkering with about the physiological explanations for cognitive functions when I've had a chance to mill over this 'aha moment' I had and put it into words more clearly. It led me to a very deep understanding on this very subject and direction that I find fascinating.

Thanks again.

We have a saying in NLP:

"The map is not the territory"

Just like a map of a city isn't a perfect copy of the city, the maps of reality that our brains create with the stimulus they recieve aren't perfect copies of reality.

They have similarities to reality which accounts for their usefulness but they are not reality as it really exists.

Because we delete well over 99% of the stimulus we recieve and create our realities with generalisations based on whats left, how can we ever be sure that our maps are accurate.

And if someone else deletes different things to us and creates a different reality based on different generalisations.... WTF! how can we truly believe ANYTHING?

All we have is useful lies, useful metaphors and useful delusions.

There are holes in every theory and always will be because reality is too comlicated and our method of interpreting reality is too flawed

The thing is, just like you, I'll probably forget this in a week or two and go back to stressing about whether I really am an INFJ or not. perhaps then someone else will point this out to me.

Chaz out-cuddles all of you, in both capacity and awesomeness.

How's that for defying type?

*Puts on Chaz mask*

Ok I'm ready for my cuddle

That is not possible. SPs may out sex us but not out cuddle.

Wait.... what?

Did I miss the cuddle competition?

Dammit!

Yeah, I think this contest was rigged so that real contestants were not able to enter. I move for a rematch that has proper channels to enter and is open to anyone that is a verified PCS (Professional Class Snuggler).

*Puts on Chaz mask*

Ok I'm ready for my cuddle
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

And yes, he is an awesome snuggler, so he maxes out both scales :3

Sorry, I didn't spend the time to read all seven pages. I read the first two and got a little tired but straight and in a relationship INFJ, though my INTP girlfriend sometimes swears I am gay because I dress better than her, she burps louder, and I enjoy taking her shopping. I also know how to dress her better than she does and know how to act more like a lady than she does. Then again she is an INTP; different species they are. lol :P I though have known all my life I am straight. I loved running from the girls when I was 5 but secretly wished they would catch me to give me a kiss even though they had girl germs. I acctually like to say that I act this way because I more confident in my sexuality than most men so I don't need to prove it. I know my desires so I don't need to prove it*could probably explain why I still don't understand flirting*

Anyways, reporting for duty sir. *Salute*

There's probably a few INFJ straight males on the INTP forum which have been mistyped, such as myself. Men don't always get validation for their feelings, so Ti can be a more valid way of handling the world. It always has been for me. School, work, family life... Ti gets me furthest, not Fe. Fe is just for the close and personal stuff, or when I'm having a really good time with friends.

My family is the type that validates T decision making rather than F decision making.

This is interesting. I test as an INFJ on all tests, but always as one with quite a low expressed F and J and I find that aside from my intimate relations my Ti seems to me to be quite dominant.

I am essentially adding support to your hyepothesis and saying that it is quite likely correct, as I have a very similar experience to yours.
