Corona / Wuhan virus

Mass hysteria and fear mongering. Stop poisoning yourself with this propaganda. Turn all of your media off.

This isn't that much emotionally to me but then again I am not emotionally fragile to this other than having to be concerned with family. I guess it comes down to enneagram or something along the lines and being an emotional preper as well as someone has to be otherwise things get a lot worse when too many people put their heads in the sand.

Panic it it's fun!

Jesus Christ.

Stop freaking out!

You don't need to prepare for a month shutdown. Frankly, I'd rather die. So if the EXTREMELY UNLIKELY scenario happens where prepping was required and I didn't do it, I'll just starve to death. I'm fine with that.

Shutdowns will be to protect the vunerable of society.

Yes most of us will be fine, but if there is a massoutbreak and hundreds die it looks bad for the government.

This is an election year, the government would rather overreact and lock everything down than risk deaths which could be used as a weapon during the elections.

Politics doesn't exist in a vaccum sadly.

Here in Cali there already mass shutdowns of schools and meetings of 250 are banned.

If deaths go up there will be pressure on State and Federal governments to do SOMETHING regardless of how ineffective. Its the Look Busy mentality that could be a problem.

Some do panic but a large majority are doing pretty good and being stable, I am ok with being at home for the whole time so long family is fine as that is all that matters. I've already lost too many family members over the past decade from ill health, old age, and even suicide so I don't want there to be anymore loss. As for the lock downs just have to face the music and ultimately if they do it right it will save many lives especially the elderly.

I was wondering if places would restrict quantity and amount of people in store. One grocery store out here sent something out that they will be stocked but will limit purchases. I plan on using instacart and then just picking it up or having it delivered if still available.

When I ordered water from instacart two weeks ago they were already limiting it to one case per order, I think they're doing the same for toilet paper and other stuff now too

This thing is everywhere in the US, it'll just take a couple weeks for our medical facilities to get overwhelmed now, before they decide to get serious about locking everything down. Or maybe they won't, I think our government would prefer people die honestly.

Yeah they are. Which is necessary. It's not the apocalypse. I think retail workers are on the front lines of maintaining civil society though. Godspeed all those brave souls who show up to deal with the panic stricken masses during this.

I kind of like it.
A ghost town would be great! I have 3 kids and today was the day for me to re-up on regular groceries. I went to the store... It was packed and the shelves were bare. So I went to a small dollar store where I did find most of the groceries I wanted, but I was there for 2 hours because it was also packed full of people and all but one employee called in. They were scared of getting sick and management just let one single person work the entire day. All alone! It was chaos in the store and that one woman was doing EVERYTHING as the only employee in the store because everyone else was scared. So I gave her my toilet paper money...
